The Kenya Association of
Central Ohio (KACO) committee would like to extend our sincere
gratitude to all of the friends and well wishers that so
kindly and generously comforted the family of our
departed brother JOHN MWANGI through prayers, condolence messages,
material and financial support.
In an overwhelming show of support, never
before witnessed in Columbus, a total of $16,050 was raised in just
over a week towards the cost of transporting John's body
home. He was laid to rest on Tuesday May 17th 2005 in Nairobi,
Kenya in accordance with his family's wishes.
We cannot thank, individually, all those
who supported this worthy cause. We received support from his
friends in various cities in the United States - Atlanta,
Philadephia, Washington DC, from his workmates at RBC Mortgage, his
employers, his Tanzanian friends and many others. Thank you very
much!
We would like to thank Pastor Douglas
Muchiri for conducting the funeral service and Pastor Muraya and the
SDA Church in Worthington for providing us venues to
meet.
And lastly, and certainly not the least,
we would like to thank the entire Kenyan Community in Central Ohio.
The support was overwhelming and the turnout was unprecedented.
All of us were proud to be identified as Kenyans and we proved
that the Kenyan spirit of being mindful of other
people's welfare (the harambee spirit) has not been eroded by the
thousands of miles that separate us from Kenya. Asanteni
Sana!
